How can attendees use a message template?

As an attendee, you can use a message template from two different places in the Whova mobile app and web app:

  1. Within a 1-1 direct message
  2. When you “Say Hi” to another attendee from the attendee list

1-1 direct message

To send a 1-1 direct message, you can go to the Messages section on the bottom navigation bar and start a new conversation. If it's your first time reaching out to this person, you have the option to conveniently use a message template.

You can do so by clicking the “Use Template” dropdown by the message field at the bottom of the screen. Here, you can select from one of two Whova-provided templates, or alternatively, create your own template.

If you choose one of the Whova-provided templates ("Introduction" or "Catch-up" template), it will automatically populate the message field with the chosen template, and the recipient's correct information using dynamic tags.

You can edit the message directly in the field if you would like. However, any changes made directly in the message field will not update the template itself and will not be saved for future use.

Once you have checked over your message and are happy with the content, you can send it to your chosen recipient.

Alternatively, if you want to create your own custom message template instead of using a Whova-provided template, you can click on the “Use template” dropdown and click “Create new template.”

You must give the template a name and customize the template’s content. You can also insert dynamic data tags, such as first name, full name, and affiliation, to personalize the message.

Once you're satisfied with the template, you can click "Save and use template." This will save the template for future use and automatically insert the content into the message field for the current recipient.

Once you're satisfied with the message, you can simply click "Send."

“Say Hi” on the attendee list

Attendees can also use message templates if they opt to “Say Hi” to another attendee while browsing the attendee list.

If you click "Say Hi," a message field will appear. Here, you can click "Use template" and select which template you would like to use.

If you have already saved a custom template and want to edit it, you may do so when messaging another recipient, whether through a 1-1 direct message or "Say Hi." When selecting a template, a new option will appear called "Edit template."

Here, you can edit your template and save it for future use. Your custom template can be updated at any time.
